Siteimprove Releases 4th Corporate Social Responsibility Report
Software-as-a-Service company Siteimprove released its fourth annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) report today, outlining its efforts to cultivate an exceptional workplace, support digital accessibility, and reduce environmental impacts. The report, published in accordance with the United Nations Global Compact, is now available online at http://siteimprove.com/about-us/csr/.
In 2013, Siteimprove won a prize for best emerging CSR report from the Danish Accountants Organisation. For Siteimprove founder and chief executive officer Morten Ebbesen, this was a great validation for Siteimprove to continue increasing its CSR efforts.
“Small software companies traditionally tend not to place an importance on CSR” Ebbesen said. “Here at Siteimprove, we like to see ourselves as not only the world leading provider of web governance tools and solutions, but also as a world-leading example of how CSR can be successfully integrated into other software companies.”
One area that Siteimprove continuously focuses on is digital accessibility. In 2013, the company achieved a number of its previous year’s goals, including hiring a second accessibility expert, developing new initiatives for a more accessible digital environment, introducing a PDF accessibility checking feature within its tool offering, and establishing an online accessibility certification program.
Additionally Siteimprove sought to provide all employees with a psychologically and physically sound working environment and elevated its environmental commitments. “We encouraged employees to bike or take public transport to work, planted trees in Malawi through our UK ‘Fruitful Office’ program and even sponsored the endangered hammerhead shark species at the Danish National Aquarium” said Ebbesen.
As part of its CSR efforts, Siteimprove also chose to extend its focus on charity and fundraising, and throughout 2013 and 2014 the company packed airplane travel bags for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, ran in a charity event for Syrian refugees, and hosted a cake sale fundraising for the UK charity Children In Need.
