Siteimprove Launches Free Google Chrome Accessibility Checker

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – February 21, 2017 – Siteimprove continues to establish itself as a leader in digital accessibility with the release of its free Accessibility Checker for Google Chrome. The browser extension enables anyone to perform on-the-go compliance checks, with or without a Siteimprove subscription.
Using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), the new Accessibility Checker highlights errors on a single web page, providing clear explanations of how they affect website visitors and recommendations on how to fix them. WCAG 2.0 has been adopted as the internet standard by countries around the world, including European Union Member States, the United States, Australia, and more.
“Siteimprove has a mission of making the web accessible to all, and we are taking a giant leap in that direction with the Accessibility Checker. Web teams around the world, including our existing customers, will benefit from our new extension by improving their existing workflows before any pages go live,” said Siteimprove Accessibility Product Owner Anne Thyme.
The extension does not replace Siteimprove's sitewide Accessibility crawling tool, but gives individuals and web teams immediate, shareable insight into the accessibility needs of their website. The Accessibility Checker allows users to check multi-step forms, dynamic content, and non-public pages, ideal for embracing accessibility in the development stage of a website.
