SearchImprove allows you to control the synonyms and misspellings list, so that search results reflect the language used on your site.

Synonyms and misspellings are managed in an identical fashion in SearchImprove. The following explains how to add synonyms, and this explanation also applies to adding misspellings.

Add synonyms and misspellings by clicking Synonyms and Misspellings in the left menu.

SearchImprove allows you to create a custom collection of synonyms that reflect the needs of your organisation. You can add to this collection on a continual basis, making use of Search statistics to find out which words users often misspell or use alternative phrases.

If you find that users use a misspelled search term and do not receive results, a synonym may need to be created.

Enter a word in the Search term field. Enter its synonym in the Synonym field. Click Create.

Allow 5-10 minutes for synonyms to take effect.

Synonyms work both ways, so a search includes pages where the original search term appears, as well as search results where the synonym appears.

Existing synonyms are listed below the Create button. Click Delete to remove an existing synonym pair.
