Pageranking and QuickLink are two functions that use keywords to promote specific pages or display specific content when that search term (keyword) is used.

Pageranking on the search results page

Pageranking can be actioned using the SearchImprove editing tools that administrators can access as described above.

Enter the desired keyword as a search term within the search engine.

Apply the Pageranking icon   to promote the page/file to the first result on the results page. Use the additional icons to sort all pages/files that have been promoted in this way. Use the new delete icon to remove the Pageranking.

Using the editing tools just on the search results page can be confusing when trying to keep track of Page Rankings for many different keywords, so we recommend using the tools in combination with the Pageranking section of the administration module. Using this method requires for the page/file to already appear as a search result for the search term before it can be promoted.

Pageranking from the administration module

Pageranking can also be administered from the SiteImprove administration module.

Click on Setup in the left hand menu. Click on the package that should be amended and click on Pageranking og Quicklink.

Here you can see an overview of all Pagerankings within this package and all the keywords that are associated with each Pageranking. As a default the Pageranking is created with one keyword, but you have the ability to link multiple keywords by clicking on the Pageranking name.

Now you can add more keywords which will have the same effect as the original keyword: to promote all the pages that appear under the title Pages in Pageranking.

Pages can also be sorted and additional pages found by clicking on the Add pages button.

Quicklink

Quicklink is SiteImprove's designation of special content that appears when searching on certain keywords.

Managing Quicklink is also available through the PageRanking page. For the keywords that are associated with a page ranking, you can also add content. Click on the Quicklink button at the bottom of the page.

Now you can use the WYSIWYG editor to enter content, insert images and other text, which will be displayed when searching on certain keywords.

By default, the Quicklink text/image will appear as an extension of the general search results that are returned for the search term/keyword. If you just want the Quicklink to be displayed without the general search results, click on the button Only display QuickLink

There is also the possibility to create a detailed plan for when this Quicklink should be displayed, so the content is displayed only if the search is on certain days and / or time of day.
