Search Relevancy Control

SearchImprove provides unparalleled control over relevancy criteria, from an intuitive and easy-to-use administrative interface.

SearchImprove differs from other search engines in the amount of adjustment options that it offers to provide users with better search matches. SearchImprove allows you to fine tune your search engine returns, using any of the following six ranking determiners, which determine the final ranking of the document.

Title

The document title often reflects its content. For this reason a search term match in the document title is given a higher score than a match in the document text. SearchImprove allows you to configure the importance of the document’s title.

Metadata

Metadata such as “Keywords” and “Description” can help classify documents and direct users towards the documents they need. The importance of search term matches in metadata can be altered to fit the needs of the organisation.

Age

More often than not, users look for the most up-to-date information available. SearchImprove lets you alter the importance of age in the search, typically using the metadata “Date”.

URL

Site content may be reflected in the site URL. The importance of search term matches in the URL can be adjusted.

Grouping

Often a search term match is not sufficient to ensure that a document is relevant for the user. The context in which the document appears may be of vital importance. SearchImprove allows you to differentiate between existing groups of documents, by awarding them with different ranking scores. For instance, it may be practical to award documents from the organisation’s contacts page a higher ranking score than other documents. In this manner, the results of a search on an employee name will feature this employee’s contact details prominently on the list of results, with meeting summaries and other documents lower down on the list.

Aside from recognizing existing document groups, SearchImprove’s statistics feature provides ideas as to which new groups to establish, e.g. by using metadata keywords.
